Introduction

My name is Molly Trede, and I’m a junior at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. My major is PR and advertising with my second field of study being communication studies. With this major, I would like to find a job that allows me to strengthen my writing skills. I’ve always been a writer, and choosing the PR field as my career path would be something like a dream for me. I love learning about AP style rules, and practicing those in my work comes easily for me. Being able to write PR for a company, or even do photography and videography for them would be my ideal career path.

My favorite book is Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. This book is amazing to me in a lot of different ways, but I love how young the characters are and how they are written overcoming their differences and the adversity they face as a couple. It’s the sweetest written love story about two kids who really have no idea what love means, but they keep loving each other as purely as kids do.

My favorite film is Dead Poets Society. This is a classic film, but I hadn’t seen it until last year due to it being an assignment for my class. I am so glad I was “forced” to watch it. The film tells such an intense and almost magical story about a teacher who just wants his students to experience life a little differently, but everyone else is pushing against him. I feel as if I can relate to Robin Williams’s character in this film, constantly wanting to do what makes you happy or what you feel is right, and having someone with a different opinion trying to make you feel as if you’re wrong for being yourself.

In this portion of Media Storytelling II, I really hope to strenghten my writing skills. This is the section of the class that I was looking forward to most, just because it’s going to be the one that highlights my strengths the most. It will also help me prepare for my future, because I hope to write for the rest of my life.
